ASTM Flat steel is a wide, flat steel with a rectangular cross-section, usually with a certain thickness. Unlike the common rectangular steel, flat steel has a flatter shape, hence the name. Flat steel is available in a wide range of sizes, usually from 12 to 300mm in width and from 4 to 60mm in thickness, depending on the application and process requirements.
The production process of flat steel mainly includes hot rolling and cold rolling. Hot rolled flat steel is made by heating the billet to a high temperature and then rolled, its surface roughness, low precision, suitable for the occasions that do not require high precision. Cold rolled flat steel is made through the cold rolling process, its surface is smooth, high precision, suitable for occasions requiring high precision.
Flat steel has many advantages and application areas. First of all, the cross-section shape of flat steel is reasonable, which can effectively improve the utilization rate of materials and reduce waste. Secondly, flat steel has high strength and good rigidity, which can withstand large pressure and bending moment and is not easy to deform.
